So you found an animal that you think needs help?
Step 1: If the animal is a reptile, please make note of the exact location where you found it. Cross road names, mile markers and/or landmark/business names are most helpful.
Step 2: If you are able to SAFELY contain the animal please do so. WEAR GLOVES and DO NOT TOUCH the animal if it is a raccoon, skunk, fox, bat or bobcat. If you do, the animal will likely have to be put down as directed by the Health Department. Try to snap a good picture of it, as we are likely to ask for one when you text us, then keep it somewhere WARM, DARK & QUIET away from pets & children and DO NOT offer FOOD or WATER.
Step 3: Are you in Charlotte? - we serve the city of Charlotte. If you are in another city outside of the greater Charlotte metro area, please click here
Step 4: If it is a bird, deer, bear, or amphibian - please click here.

Is the animal a baby….
squirrel - unless the baby is sick and/or injured we’re going to ask that you try to reunite it with its mother. squirrel moms are excellent mothers and will come rescue their babies if you follow these steps. you will need this link to play baby squirrel cry noises which will help to get moms attention.
opossum - momma opossums can have up to 13 babies riding on her back and she is constantly moving. she has no idea if a baby falls off. this baby definitely needs to be admitted into rescue.
